Enlightenment

Enlightenment is a name applied to a western intellectual and cultural movement which developed in Europe during seventeenth century and reached its peak in eighteenth century. This movement involves a trust in universal and uniform human region as the only medium to solve the crucial problems. 

    This age finds the use of reason as a way to clear the darkness of superstition, prejudice and barbarity. Further, it helps human to free themselves from their dependence on authority of unexamined traditions. 

     The age of enlightenment provided or opened a prospect of progress in life which is set in a world of universal peace and happiness. So, for the first time on the basis of enlightenment are formed in the works of Francis balcon who was an essayist and known for his moralistic and socialistic writing. Other prominent thinker is John Locke, William Godwin and so on.

     German philosopher , Immanuel Kant give the definition in his essay "what is enlightenment?" Written in 1974.

     According to Kant, Enlightenment is 

"about liberation of mankind that made human free from minorities".

Kant- "self cost state of minority".

The enlightenment category of the universal was central to eighteenth century thinkers who were trying to transend national, linguistics or other divisions. These writers has given radical social critiques and shown the derogatory sides of all concepts such as race, sex, ethnicity and class . They ridiculous all social binaries and concepts in their writings.
