Farce (comedy)

 Farce

       It is an exaggerated form for comedy. It was originated in France during fifteenth century and introduced in England during sixteenth century.

  Word ' Farce' is taken from a Latin word 'stuff' that cannotes ' refer someone without using his or her name.'

In the farce comedy everything is absolutely absurd and it includes miscommunication, physical humour, absurdity and funny situation etc.

It is a genre of drama specially comedy whose purpose is to make the audience laugh. I can also be explained as a broad satire or comedy which is used to describe something that is supposed to be serious but has turned ridiculous.

ELEMENTS:

Absurd plot -

           it has a combination of funny violence, mistaken identities and role reversal that go against social expectations. However, farce plots typically have a happy ending.

* Fast action-

         It is all about timing and action or comedy will happen fast .

*Unique character-

         Characters can make or break comedies . Therefore, the farce genre plays them up . For example, you might have strange relatives or comedic servants to add fun to situation.

*Wit - charcterrs need to have wit because sassy attitude and fast comeback etc is also major feature of a farce.

*Identity centered-

        It revolves around mistaken or threatened identity of characters.

Example-

- " The Comedy of Errors ' by William Shakespeare

- " She Stoops to Conquer"  by Oliver  Goldsmith.
